Updated: Jan 11, 2021

This month we feature none other than Mr Winston “Monty” Montano.

Mr Monty as he is more commonly known, was born in Mora Trace, Matura but spent his early years in the village of San Pedro, South Trinidad. There, he would go on to be educated in St. Stephens College, Princess Town, before going on to Teachers College in Arima and returning to teach at St. Stephens College. Continuing his studies, Mr Monty went on to study Geology at UWI Mona campus in Jamaica, returning to work in the oilfields of Siparia as a Geologist. Here he would raise his two sons and mentored several others into the famous Xtatik band, led by his son, Machel Montano.

After taking early retirement, he relocated to his beloved coastal village of Toco in 2002, where he established Almond Park estate. His vision was to create an eco-friendly space, where nature, history and holistic living can be enjoyed by the many travelers that embark on the long but rewarding journey to bask in the sun or venture into the lush forests of Toco. His establishment also provides employment for residents of the surrounding villages. Through this endeavor

, he encourages those he encounters to show love and appreciation for nature and each other, drawing more and more persons to enjoy and love our little slice of paradise!
